Exploration

Welcome to the Exploration section of this exciting Ancient Egyptian Web Quest. Within in this section you will find out your task for the Web Quest. For more information, scroll down, read the directions, and let's begin!

Starting Point:

In Ancient Egypt, your job placement and daily activities were based on your social class, which was a group that you were born into that had to do with how much money you had and you family's importance to the community.  Since the Egyptians did not have the choice to pick their job, you will be assigned your Egyptian job based on the first letter of your last name, something that you did not choose for yourself. After you have found the first letter of your last name and your new career, check to see whether there is an " * " asterisk symbol next to your job. If there is a " * ", then this means that you can read and write. If you do not have a " * " next to your job, then this means you cannot read or write. You must keep this in mind when designing your story books and tombstone bags. Some of you may only be able to use pictures and graphics instead of words and text!

Please use the first letter of your last name to discover what your Egyptian job is!
